Brett Dillingham lives and breathes in a rich world of stories, from the fantastic and absurd to the historically accurate. Brett is a world-class storyteller, a powerhouse performer in complete command of his art form. Audiences from Africa to Ireland agree that his riveting storytelling presentations- ranging from the traditional Alaskan tales of his homeland to Inuit legends to original stories- are told with a unique, compelling style. Brett is also a children’s book author and an educator; he teaches workshops on Performance Literacy where teachers instruct their students to write and tell their own stories.
Storytelling and education are sacred to me. For most of human history, stories were the only way we passed on our history, our cultural taboos and norms. That's true for all of us- from an Mbuti pygmy to my Irish Grandmother. For thousands of years, stories were created, memorized, adapted, changed, and created again. The social and academic growth students make when they tell stories to other students, parents and members of the community is an incredibly rewarding experience for everybody. Children need to be taught how to write and tell their own stories.
